Breakfast is brought by a silent attendant, and it is a couple of hours before there are more footsteps. They're accompanied by murmured voices; ones that she likely wouldn't hear, save for the point of her ears.

"You know I'm right," Jinx says, confident in his perspective. "We need to make sure." The steps stop. Sweeney grumbles.

"An' you think he's not gonna look at her fuckin' eyes?"

A silence hangs, giving away a rare moment of the Gadaíádh's concession. Sweeney takes the win, no matter how small, and shifts the topic.

"Go. Use that silver tongue'a yers ta get things lubricated." Another beat passes.

"Fine." The sharpness of the word suggests that 'fine' is being used very liberally. The light footfalls head back down the hall, and Sweeney's heavier boot strikes continue to the door. When he lets himself in, he offers a quick smile, making the effort to start the day on the right foot.

"Did you sleep a'right?" He glances to the tray and back.

"I didn't mean ta keep you waitin'."

He didn't bring breakfast. Or lunch. The only person to visit is the same silent attendant who has served her prior; quick in and out, leaving her trays by the door.

It's evening before his boots strike the hall's stone, and when he arrives at the door, he isn't carrying a tray of his own. He has a narrow-necked pitcher in one hand and two glasses in the other; their stems laced between his fingers.

When Sweeney enters, he's quiet, but not morose. He casts her a small smile as he crosses to the vanity, where he sets down what he's carrying. Then he turns to her more fully.

"Are ya feelin' any better?"

Hopefully, she is; she'd had a fair bit of time to come down and reflect on what had happened, and so had he. Some things have been made plain to him, so Sweeney' aware now that he needs to alter his course. With any luck, this might be the first step in a better direction.

The footsteps in the hall sound lighter than normal, and it quickly becomes apparent that her breakfast tray isn’t being delivered by Sweeney, but instead, the female servant who had tended Vex in those early days when he had been obligated elsewhere. As before, she says nothing, just deposits the tray on the vanity and leaves.

As her steps start to fade, a more familiar set heads towards the room, and soon enough, Sweeney’s at the door with a tray in hand. It’s not difficult to tell why this was a two-person affair; the one he has is significantly larger than normal, and it’s piled with all sorts of things. Cups and jars, an earthen pot, and an ornate stoneware kettle are huddled tight towards the center. There seems to be a couple of small books and some candles as well. A basket is strapped across his shoulder, leaving the rolled carpets and cushions safely uncrumpled at his hip.

Sweeney offers a quick smile before turning to shut the door.

“I hope your sleep was restful,” he offers, not looking back to her. Instead, he turns to the area in the room that offers the most open space, and kneels to set everything down on the floor.

Sweeney had left for the day. It had been a pleasant one; at least, as pleasant as one can be when one's stuck in a cage. He'd made sure that she'd had her bath and was prepared for the rest of the night. He'd see her in the morning, he'd said.

As such, it might come as some surprise to hear footsteps in the hall. It'd been a while, but not so long that he might have realized he'd forgotten something and thought she'd likely still be awake.

It's not the steps that are so out of place; it's the dull strum of a fingertip being dragged along the lattice of the wall, pointing out the blend of bars and gaps. Then, in the darkened hall, there's a glint of red. It's not a proper glow; more like the reflection of a cat's eyes at night.

"Hey there, Honeysuckle," he purrs with that sweet blend of Want and Temptation.

"Are you all settled in?"

Sweeney arrives in a timely manner, laden with more than normal. Breakfast is modest, but it's still plenty to fill her belly before they leave. He also has a couple of additional bags slung over a shoulder.

When he enters, he doesn't pause, as he normally would; Sweeney just bows his head in greeting and starts to the vanity to unpack. As he sets things down, it becomes increasingly clear that this is not a casual outing for him either. His attire includes a long blue-grey doublet detailed in gold.

"I hope that sleep was kind," he offers gently.

III. The Knowing

Lunch came and went, full of pages and her sweet voice, though Sweeney enjoyed them at a distance. In the chair instead of on the bed, he patiently shared her time until the afternoon grew late, and he excused himself, taking the older tray with him. It seems like it will be the pattern; one tray always left behind for her to keep what is still useful.

Dinner arrives, but he doesn't. A woman in flowing robes brings the meal, but she only steps in enough to put it on the ground, not bothering to collect anything. She doesn't speak or make eye contact.

Breakfast is the same.

When midday arrives, so does Sweeney, tray in hand. This time, however, he's not wearing his vest, only his simple, pale shirt. He crosses without hesitation, setting the tray on the end of the bed before crouching to rearrange the older things into a more efficient stack to take with him.

"I didn't mean ta leave you waitin'," he starts without segue. Sweeney's eyes remain low, but the apology in his voice is a little heavier than it would normally be, if the issue was simple tardiness.

II. Attempt at Reconciliation

He isn't confident much will have changed, but he hopes she's at least managed some sleep. It's unlikely to have reset anything, but perhaps it will start her with more confident footing; that might help.

Sweeney steps inside, tray in hand. He lingers near the door, trying to give her a moment to collect herself, and they can try to go from there.

"Good morning," he offers politely, his eyes focused on taking stock of what had been left behind.

It's his intention to condense down what was still good and collect the rest. Today's breakfast is less ample, but tailored to the things she'd enjoyed yesterday.
